X-ray diffraction The use of x-rays and the science of diffraction led to the discovery of many biological structures.

Rosalind Franklin made many thousands of x-ray pictures and provided the dot patterns in a 3-D structure that led to the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA. Crick and Watson used this data to make the final simple description we use today.
